The story of our lives, I feel, is made up of several different tales. Moving to college is such a tale.
I clearly remember the first scene of this tale. I was sitting beside my father in the car when a round sign-post suddenly came into view. IIM INDORE it spelt out in its bold proud letters. Behind it I could see the hillock dotted with buildings. My father glanced at me and just smiled. No words were required to convey what he meant - this is your new home.
To tell the truth, at that moment I didn't think this was possible. I was living my home behind; how could I find a new home here?
But one term later, I have a different view now.
IIM Indore is not just a place for world-class learning, but also a place to grow, flourish and discover oneself in. Every corner of its breathtaking 193 acres harbors avenues for development, and there is something for everyone.
The serene Learning Centre provides a perfect ambience to focus on your assignments or to lose oneself in the world of books; the Music Room let’s one express their inner creativity; for sports and fitness enthusiasts there is lawn tennis, badminton, table tennis, squash, football, cricket and so much more including the gym and swimming pool. Moreover, there are common rooms where we congregate for both work and play. One of my personal favorite spots is the café Cups – the soft music, pretty lighting, and delicious food makes it a perfect place to wind down after a hectic day of classes.
Speaking of classes, the curriculum of IIM Indore is wholistic and well-rounded. From quants to humanities, from statistics to psychology, from dance to drama, the courses here help us strengthen our abilities on all fronts.
Our institute is a place which tries to give expression to and unearth the talent in everyone. The myriad Special Interest Groups, Clubs, and Committees cater to all students’ interests and needs. And how can I forget the fest – it is always one of the most cherished experiences for us IPMers.
However, I am missing out on one of the most crucial ingredients that has transformed this institute into a home – the friendships and bonds that we develop here. From working on group projects to going on long night-walks, from preparing for quizzes together at midnight to laughing together at Cups, we have grown from strangers to batchmates and finally to friends.
The memories that we forge and the learnings that we gain here at IIM Indore are going to be our life-long partners.
