Beginning A New Chapter: From School to IPM

Picture this- you live in a community with your batchmates and seniors, working hard to reach greater heights while also making a plethora of memories on campus. You follow a different routine everyday, attending classes of 8 different courses, working on assignments, writing exams, attending late night meetings and so much more. And as you keep moving forward, you realise how fast time flies, and how far you’ve come. Such is the life of an IPMer, an experience you will only be grateful for.

Moving out from school and leaving home behind was definitely not an easy choice, as it meant I was moving out of my comfort zone. I would have to make friends again, adjust to the requirements of college life, and learn to live on my own. Concepts like ‘Relative Grading’ seemed rather intimidating, and I was left wondering how I would adjust to so many changes at once.

Despite seeming like a difficult beginning, joining the IPM community was also enjoyable on its own. College Freshers, experiencing our first college fest and contributing to it, filling preprocesses for committee positions, looking for internships and projects to work on amidst academic rigour made college life something to look forward to. Additionally, exploring campus with friends, trying different dishes at food outlets, and living in a hostel with batchmates made it a lot easier to socialise and adjust to the community.

Moving from school life to IPM definitely had its ups and downs, but enjoying the journey and moving ahead was my best approach, and I knew things would fall in place.
